Hello everyone
I am currently working on a project that entails putting a custom sensor system into the Parrot Anafi drone to allow for real time data collecting and analysis. The purpose is to improve environmental monitoring capabilities by collecting additional data kinds while flying. While I have prior expertise with hardware interfacing, this is my first time dealing with drones, and I’m eager to get insights into best practices for such an integration.
I am adding custom sensors to the Parrot Anafi drone to measure temperature; humidity; and maybe air quality; with the goal of improving environmental data collecting. The goal is real time data transmission that allows for on the ground analysis while the drone is in flight; which is useful in dynamic monitoring circumstances. The Anafi’s tiny form and connectivity make it excellent; while I am looking at power options to reduce the impact on flight time. I am looking for help on sensor mounting; dependable data streaming techniques with low battery drain, and SDK tweaks to accommodate specific data. Any insights into effective integration or potential hurdles would be highly appreciated
- Is there a hardware module that works perfectly with Parrot drones; & are there any mounting ideas for lightweight sensor attachments?
- Is it conceivable to power the sensor system using the Anafi’s power supply; & would it be preferable to utilize an external power source?
- Has anyone here had any experience streaming real-time data from other sensors while using the Anafi?
- Are there Parrot SDKs that can be modified to incorporate specific sensor data, or will this necessitate significant changes?
- Any suggestions for optimizing data transmission speeds without significantly affecting flight time?
- I have looked over the Parrot Ground SDK documentation; but I am still not sure how to integrate real-time data processing for sensors that aren’t natively supported. Would a Raspberry Pi or similar interface work well with Anafi, & is there another method that others have found more reliable?
- Are there any programming languages or frameworks that perform well with the Ground SDK for this type of real time data collection?
- What obstacles might I expect based on your experience with such integrations, particularly in terms of signal interference, battery life; and data integrity?
- Are there any limitations to data streaming in the SDK that I should be aware of?
Also I explored some topics related to this https://forum.developer.parrot.com/t/rtsp-frames-metadata-to-windows-machinedevopscourseonline but I did not get the sufficient solution of my query so I would really want to get some help from a more experienced person
Thank you in advance for any suggestions & experiences you would like to share.
I am open to any and all insights, whether technical & project related. I feel that this integration can offer a lot of value to environmental monitoring applications; and I look forward to hearing your opinions.
