Sphinx - Received an error from firmwared:This operation is not permitted from the current state

Hi there,

I have just installed both Olympe and Sphinx but I am having problem with the latter.


System:
Ubuntu 20.04
CPU: 2X Xeon E5-2620 3v
GPU: 1660 Super
RAM: 16gb

To reproduce the error:
In the first terminal I launch the application using the command:

in the second terminal:

parrot-ue4-empty

I can se the window opening and the drone get displayed as expected, but after few seconds the drone disappears and the app crash. The output from the first terminal is:

It looks like there are some permission problems but I cannot figure out how to resolve it.
The firmware is the most recent one and I tried with different zip files (anafi, anafi2)
Any suggestions?

It seems that Sphinx steals an already used wireless interface. Can you test with the drone option wifi_iface= to make sure that it is not what is causing this issue?

Can you also show us the logs from firmwared? The procedure to see the logs is described here: How to debug firmwares - 2.10.3

You need to start ulogcat to see the logs from firmwared:

sudo ulogcat -v long -C

You may also want to clear the cache of firmwared to make sure that there is no corrupted firmware already installed:

fdc drop_all firmwares

I forgot to tell you that fdc drop_all firmwares should only be done when Sphinx is not running, and can just be done once, just to make sure that there is no corrupted firmwares on your disk.

Your issue this time seems to be that the port number 11345 used by Sphinx is not available, probably because of a crash (this explains why parrot-ue4-empty fails to send requests to the server). When that happens, firmwared must be restarted to liberate the port:

sudo systemctl restart firmwared.service

I have a last question, what kind of limitations does the option ::wifi_iface= has?
At the moment my plan is to use sphinx for code development and testing. Therefore I don’t need to interact with a real drone.

The wifi_iface option tells the firmware which wifi interface to use as a wireless access point. It is mainly used to connect with a FreeFlight app running on a phone. With the default auto value, it automatically takes the first wireless interface it founds which may already be used by your system. You can set it to an empty string to deactivate this option.
